My name is Cynthia Nyongesa, I was a 2016 World Bank Blog for Development Finalist. I am a young woman who is passionate about telling youthful stories born and bred in Africa. My mission is to create an opportunity for people to amplify their voices by telling us how they are promoting positive change in their various spheres because there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

It’s important for us as young people to rise and understand the issues that surround us. We ought to change the mindset we have of always waiting for people to help us. The world will never be a better place if we don’t become the change  we want to see. Never be afraid to start small. I hope that my writings will motivate you to change your attitude and to believe that you can do anything. As Professor Micere Mugo, one of the greatest authors in Kenya would say, ‘Let us reconstruct our psyche because we are incredibly beautiful as Africans.’

Africa is our treasure, our source of pride and a land of great potential. The untamed youth will be the ones to utilise this gold mine. Let us be wild and daring enough to change our lives. It doesn’t matter where you were born, all that matters is that you and I are here.

Join me as I bring to life the efforts of people who have already made an effort to change their lives and those of others. Make an effort to network with them and learn from them. Let’s do this, there’s special part every one of us can play.

I believe that God will make something good out of me!
