Lately I have been going through a journey discovering myself and what vision I have for my life. The first thing I have discovered is learning to love myself for who I am. There are those moments when we feel like we have no purpose in life and that we are just not good enough. Sometimes this feeling becomes overwhelming leading to low self esteem. I have discovered that God created me for a purpose on this earth. In the words of Celine Dion,” there is nothing ordinary in the living of each day, there is a special part every one of us will play.” Each of us needs to discover that they have great potential be it in academics, the arts or whatever field. Once you discover the greatness within you, you will learn to love yourself.

Believe that you are beautiful, handsome, intelligent or whatever positive attribute that you can think of. One mistake that people often make is wanting to be someone else without realizing who they are. Before you decide you want to be the next Barack Obama or the next Oprah Winfrey or Wangari Maathai, you must first appreciate the potential you have or else you will live an incredibly insatiable life. Each of us is a unique individual. Whitney Houston sang ” learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.” Above all don’t forget to thank God for the gift of life and all your achievements. Human beings tend to think that all they have is their doing but without the breath of life from God, it is all vanity. I urge you today to begin this journey of self discovery without looking back. Do not listen to the negative voices whether internal or external. Rise up and build your self esteem and encourage that person who hates him/herself. Find your strength in the love you have for yourself.
